Spartans Fall to Panthers Despite Strong Second Half
Another strong second half wasn't enough for Cayuga Community College Men's Basketball to overcome a slow start in a home loss to Tompkins Cortland Community College on Wednesday.
The Spartans fell behind early but staged a furious rally in the final 10 minutes before falling 83-76 to the Panthers. Cayuga is now 3-13 on the season and 3-4 in Mid-State Athletic Conference play.
Cayuga struggled on the offensive end in the first half, scoring 21 points and trailing by 16 at the break. Yaqub Drammeh led the Spartans with 9 points at the break and finished the game with 16 points and seven rebounds.
The Spartans trailed throughout the second half, but cut the deficit from 20 points to single digits in the final minutes with baskets from Josiah Murphy, Omar Musa and Codie Patrick.
Murphy led Cayuga with 18 points and 10 rebounds, and Jadeir Breedlove had 12 points and five assists. Musa had 14 points and seven rebounds, and Patrick finished with six points and five rebounds.
Cayuga is home again Saturday, Jan. 31, against Fulton-Montgomery Community College. Tipoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
