Lady Spartans Lose First MSAC Game at OCC

Cayuga started slow against a high-flying OCC attack that netted 2 goals in the first twenty minutes. But Cayuga settled into the match and ended the first half with some great play and a few excellent scoring chances…before giving up a late goal for a half-time score of 3 to 0.

The Lady Spartans came out strong in the second half and were an inspired team…creating scoring chance after scoring chance…but with no reward of a goal. Cayuga's defense and sophomore goalie Cheyenne Rivenburg (Little Falls, NY) held strong...stopping attack after attack from the OCC offense...while collecting 24 saves on the day. Unable to put one in the net, Cayuga was caught off guard on a counterattack by OCC and gave up a penalty kick goal with 15 minutes left. OCC added one more for a final score of 5 to 0.

After the game, Coach Robillard had this to say, "This was a physical game and we did well against some strong players at OCC. I was really impressed with Madi Hatt (Jordan, NY) who was awesome in shutting down all attacks on the left side of defense. We are improving each game and this will be a great season, I'm excited."

Cayuga travels to Niagara Community college this weekend.
